Publication of an Article in the “Journal of Comparative Economics” (Rank 1)

Article

Last March, the “Journal of Comparative Economics” published an article co-authored by the director of the LaRGE Research Center in collaboration with a postdoctoral student from the Université Libre de Bruxelles and a professor from the University of Lille.

The Journal of Comparative Economics’ aim is to highlight new directions in research on comparative economic systems.

Laurent Weill (LaRGE, EM Strasbourg), Abel François (University of Lille), and Sophie Panel (Université Libre de Bruxelles) co-authored the article “Educated dictators attract more foreign direct investment”.

Since political risk is greater in dictatorships than in democracies, this article examines the hypothesis that foreign investors examine public information about dictators to assess this risk.
